St.
John, a quaint little island in the Northeastern Caribbean, is home to
the U.S. Virgin Islands' best kept secret. Inner Visions, as they
are called, has been in existence for over 20 years. Fighting hard
to overcome a dominant Calypso music-infested environment was not easy.
Phillip Pickering and Paul Samms are the only two remaining members of
"Prophecy", Inner Visions' previous name. Later they would be joined
by Alvin Pickering, who would make the trio complete.

Today
their music has transcended all barriers, and the respect they craved for
so long has finally surfaced. Reggae by any stretch of the imagination
is not easy to master. Inner Visions has managed to learn and to
maintain its authenticity and criteria while taking the music to a different
level. Good song writing and strong vocals has always been their
greatest asset. Much better live than with individual track recordings,
this group, when given an audience, comes alive. Always ready to do benefits
for worthwhile causes, Inner Visions has always been in the foreground
in a fundraising capacity. Their motto is "Love one another now."

After
seventeen years, Inner Visions recorded their very first CD. Released
in 1995, this compilation netted them their first big local hit. Love
one another, the title track, became a chart climber and after four
weeks rested comfortably at the number two rated position. September of
1999, the CD single Shala-la /Tonight was released. Shala-la
becamean
instant smash hit and held the No. 1 position for more than six weeks in
the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, helping to cement their name in the
hearts and minds of the people. Spiritual Dancer was introduced
to fans in November of 2000, as was Shala-la
(the club mix). Of
the top one hundred songs most played and requested on mainstream radio
for that year they placed at number ten. Many other songs from Spiritual
Dancer are netting considerable amount of playtime on local airwaves.

In
the year 2001, Inner Visions embarked on their very first official U.S.
tour. However, because of the World Trade Center crisis and other problems
plaguing the nation, and also because of the fact they were quite unknown,
they were forced to endure many hardships. They made a tour out of sheer
determination, and planted the seeds that would bring forth fruit in the
following year.

Inner
Visions left home again to join and headline the Bob Marley Rastaman Vibration
Tour 2002. However, because of demands elsewhere, they jumped ship and
found themselves touring with the likes of Marcia Griffiths, Israel
Vibrations, Wailing Souls, etc. They toured from Florida’s Tropical
Heatwave in Tampa to Chicago’s Wild Hare, Island Reggae Fest in Kalamazoo
MI, Iron Horse in Northampton MA, and New England Reggae Fest in Eschoeag
RI. They also toured World Fest in Sacramento CA, Festival of Arts
and Ideas in New Haven CT, Muzik Fest in Bethlehem PA, Club Quest in Minneapolis
MN, Reggae Soltice in Norfolk VA, just to name a few. For good measure
they were invited home to open a show for the incomparable Bunny Wailer.
